Working with the Head of Retail, the Mid-Atlantic Territory Sales Manager is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with various customer contacts, promoting Wild Earth products, and generating new business. This position increases sales and profitability by growing the customer base within an assigned territory and increasing current customer sales. This position is responsible for the cultivation of sales opportunities through current and potential customers within Retail Channels and Direct-to-Consumer as needed. This position is located in the Mid-Atlantic territory and requires up to 75% of travel.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate medium-to-long range sales plans to develop, protect, grow, and diversify relationships with existing and potential customers and distributor partners.
  • Recruiting, training, and leading retail brand ambassadors (either internally or through agency partners).
  • Assisting in the planning and development of marketing campaigns and efforts targeted for the Mid-Atlantic market.
  • Educate and train distributors and respective sales representatives on product knowledge. Provide in-store training to retail outlets who agree to carry Wild Earth brand.
  • Prospect and coordinate with event organizers for sponsorship opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a strategic customer growth roadmap/plan with the focus on implementing new business relationships and driving consumer growth.
  • Build strong customer relationships, serve as a key point of contact for customers, and work to resolve issues quickly and collaboratively.
  • Maintain accurate information for sales pipeline, prospects, customer information and communication logs within the CRM system.
  • Support customer implementations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as first point of contact on invoicing and accounts receivable issues.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of the competitive environment and other market.
  • Leverage fact based selling tools and technology to sell the company's strategic focus areas and priorities to Key Decision Makers (KDM). These include assortment priorities, shelving objectives and planograms, and incremental displays both permanent and temporary.
  • Customize and implement advanced selling tools and fact-based selling strategies to achieve orders and sustainable results resulting in increased share and gross sales for the company and the customer.
  • Where applicable, sell in contracts which will support delivery of the distribution, shelving, and merchandising objectives. Enforce compliance throughout the year by providing business updates to the store decision makers. Execute trade and/or product payment commitment (where applicable).
  • Measure and evaluate specific territory business (KPI's, trends, gaps/opportunities, what's working/not working). Provide solutions where gaps exist and execute these solutions accordingly. Own and lead this territory story with management team.
  • Partner with 3rd party providers (where applicable) to execute merchandising required after the sales initiatives are sold in (i.e. displays, seasonal, shelving initiatives, distribution/on shelf availability).
  • Leverage data and demonstrate strong priority setting to deliver channel/retailer specific sell through targets.
  • Participate in team conference calls, training and attend all sales meetings.
  • Responsible for storage facility and managing product rotation, inventory allocation, supplies, etc., in an efficient and effective way.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of pet product sales experience, with related products and/or related industries
  • Experience with project management, and/or new customer/territory development
  • Prior Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or retail sales experience
  • Valid driver's license & approved driving
  • High standard of professionalism
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, and ability to manage and drive own priorities
  • Ability to translate and convey technical aspects of products
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and written
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills, and formidable negotiating ability
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and execute in a high-pressure environment
  • Comfort with and efficient in data analysis
  • State and/or Regional travel estimated up to 75%.

Salary

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000-$90,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. HR can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
